How you prepare for your bodywork session

Preparing for your session is straightforward.

  • Come ready and open to receive what you need and to release what doesn’t serve you.

  • A warm shower or bath right before your session will decrease the time your therapist uses to warm up your tissue and increase the amount of time spent on the deeper, detailed work.

  • Wear clothes that are comfortable for you to change in and out of.

  • Consider what undergarments you feel most comfortable in while receiving a professional massage.

  • We recommend leaving all your electronic devices safely in your car so you can be present in the space during your session.

  • Take a moment to reflect on how your body feels and which areas feel tight, tired, or sore so you can share with your bodywork therapist.

  • Take a moment to reflect on how you are feeling emotionally and mentally. Reflect on where you feel any sensation in your body when you think or feel the things most on your mind—also, helpful information to share with your bodywork therapist.

  • Plan for a 20-30 minute walk after your session.

You don’t need to treat this preparation as a checklist that must be done. Consider these helpful tools to ensure you have the nurturing session you need and deserve.

Use what resonates with you and leave what doesn’t.
